Dear...
Summary:
For this activity, the students will write a letter as someone else to Leigh. The students will have the choice of writing as Mr. Henshaw, Leigh's mom, Leigh's dad or his best friend Barry. The students will write a short letter to Leigh in the point of view of who ever they picked. The students will be paying attention to various writing styles the people that they picked could have.
Rationale:
The reason that I chose this activity is because I think that it is always important to see something from a different point of view. I feel that this activity will help the students to see how the story could have been different if it was told through letters written by someone else. I also feel that this activity encompasses the standard of developing imagined experiences. Through doing this activitiy the students will touch on every aspect of the standard that I provide.
Common Core Standards:
Level of Bloom's Taxonomy: Synthesis. This activity is at the level of synthesis because they will be reconstructing the letters that Leigh sends in to letters that Leigh will receive. The students will be showing their understanding by constructing something different from the original.
