Setting Up an Interview
Summary:
In this activity, the students will create an interview. This interview will contain eight questions that they would like to ask an author. The students will then get with a partner and interview each other using the questions that they came up with. The students will be treating this as if it is an actual interview.
Rationale:
The reason that I chose to do this activity with the students was because I felt that it was very relevant to the book that they have been reading. I also thought that it would be a great way to start out the writing activities because it is an activity that has less writing and will be interactive for the students. I think that by doing this activity the students will become more comfortable with their writing and think of writing in a more positive light. I also feel that the standard brings together the task because the students will need to make sure that they organize their questions appropriately, make sure that they are writing in a way that the intended audience will understand, and make sure to stay on task with the purpose of why they are writing an interview.
Common Core Standards:
Level of Bloom's Taxonomy: Evaluation. This is on the level of evaluation because the students will be deciding and selecting which questions are appropriate to ask the author, as well as prioritizing and ranking which questions are most important to ask the author.
