Ready, Set, Secure
Summary:
For this activity, the students will be designing a security system for their lunchboxes. The students will draw their security system and label the parts of the system. Then the students will describe and write an informative piece of writing that will explain how their security system will work.
Rationale:
I chose to do this activity because I thought that it would be great for the students to do a writing activity that was more interactive. I tried to make as many activities as hands-on as possible. This activity is a great way to have the students show their own personality and ideas in the way of writing. I wanted the students to be able to show their ways of thinking and convey those in their writing. I also thought that it encompassed the standard well when the students are writing the information that they have regarding their security system.
Common Core Standards:
Level of Bloom's Taxonomy: Synthesis. This activity is on the level of synthesis because the students will be inventing a security system for their lunchbox. This will be something that the students will be originating from their own ideas. They will also be writing about how it will work.
